La Carerra de la Mujer: Breast Cancer 5K!

Well, one of my first Sundays to relax, and I had to be up by 9 for a 5K. Sevilla hosts a 5K called "La Carerra de la Mujer," (The race of the woman) and all proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research. It was a lot of fun and I ran the whole race with 3 8th graders. They were great and I am really proud they ran the whole way (that's kind of a long way for a 13 year old). We finished in 32 minutes! Haha, I thought about running for a time, but decided I would rather bond with them than get bragging rights. Look at that maturity.

So we started out the Spanish way... meeting at a bar before the race. We weren't the only ones who had this idea, and the place was packed! But the race started and ended in Plaza de Espana, and there were so many people! Everyone was really enthusiastic though and it was nice to see the kids outside of the school.

They give more water at USA 5Ks.

These were my star 8th graders! They did awesome- It was the first 5K they had done!
