Africa: Part 2

Well, pretty sure I got sick from the water in Morocco. I didn't drink it, but I did eat the fruits and vegetables that were washed with it. I haven't thrown up, but I just haven't felt well. the other girl who ate the fruit with me also got sick, which is why I came to this conclusion. Still an awesome trip though!
Anyway, Saturday night they had a great dinner for us and surprised us with a performance of Moroccan dancers! I took some videos but I forgot my Youtube password, so I'll get them up eventually. They were very talented though! On guy did African break dancing moves holding candles and they had so much enthusiasm. It was awesome. After that, the group organized a little "party" on the top floor with a bunch of sangria! That was our taste of home- everything else that weekend, Moroccan!
The next morning we headed out to Tanger. It was gorgeous. This is the point that the Atlantic splits with the Mediterranean:

This is the Cave of Hercules. According to Greek Mythology, this is where Hercules separated Europe from Africa.

Then! It was time for the camel rides! I felt kinda bad for these camels, just being forced to carry tourists and be hurried by their "masters." All the while venders were trying to sell to us, and were extremely persistent. I felt terrible, one old man start at 20 euro for a t-shirt and was down to 1 euro. And I would have bought it from him, but  I didn't have a euro! We exchanged money too, Durhams, which is 11 durhams for 1 euro. Those vendors are so desperate for money though, they will take any currency and exchange it themselves. They accepted euros and USDs too.
But the camel ride was really cool, and we got the cliche study abroad pictures riding a camel, so conforming to that social norm was fun.

While we waited for the other groups to finish, I wandered down the beach. It was really pretty.

After a beautiful morning, we headed to a restaurant that was super stressed about serving 106 people. They served me raw chicken. Not undercooked, raw. They weren't even like frazzled when I brought it up to them... they just looked at it and told me to go into the kitchen to get a new one. Anyway.

Then we headed to Assilah- a small town on the beach that was a lot like Chefchauoen. I actually liked Assilah better because it seemed calmer and had a lot more art painted on the buildings. the murals were so cool, and very modern for a place that wasn't so modern.
Oh, meant to add, they thought I was Shakira in Chefchaueon. Like ran up to me screaming. That was fun.
Back to Assilah.

Ya can't make this stuff up.

Here is one of the Moroccan dancers in the town!
These are the type of murals I was talking about. One has scriptures from the Qur'an written on it.

I did like the Instagram wall, that is a cute idea. Obviously they have internet!
I also got to leave my mark on Assilah, there is a wall that people can sign, so I obviously took advantage of that! Hopefully one day I can come back and find my signature :)

This is just the typical inside of a pottery store.

Every trip I have been on has been so different, and each one is my favorite for a different reason. Morocco was such a difference in culture and so much more like Jordan and the West Bank (yet not similar at the same time).
Oh, and here is the money.
