Cadiz! Impulse Decision

Well, there was no school on Monday, and while everyone else was studying I decided to take a train to the city of Cadiz! It was really cool going on the trip by myself, because I just felt so free! The world was at my fingertips- I boarded the bus with no plan, no map, and no regrets. I figured I´d make it up as I went along. Cadiz is a beach city in the south of Andalucia, bordering the Atlantic. It was gorgeous.

I hopped off the bus and asked a kid where the downtown was. He pointed me in the right direction and I just started wandering! What was even better though was the next part. I was behind 2 girls that were on the bus with me and stopped to take a picture in front of the Town Hall. They asked me to take a picture of them, and after that we started talking. When they found out that I was alone, they invited me to join them, and I spent the whole day with them! Both 23 years old, one was from Poland and the other the Czech Republic. They had met in Sevilla that semester where they were studying. It was great

Our first stop was the Cathedral. We got the audio aides too and got in free to the museum, so that was cool. There was also a really cool plaza when we got off the bus, overlooking the ports.

After that, we decided to find the beach- which wasn't hard. We put our feet in and just laid in the sun for a while.

By then it was about 3, so it was lunch time! Since we were all on a budget, AND it was Monday... it meant 50 cent montaditos at Cien Montaditos! They are mini sandwiches, and it was so busy we waited for like 45 minutes, but I got 4 sandwiches for 2 euro. Definitely worth it. In the mean time, we just chatted. After lunch we walked around the city and the shops.

The girls left because they were going to carpool back to Sevilla (but ended up not and coming on the bus with me, but anyway), so we parted ways and I headed back to the beach. I saw a great sunset!

As I headed back to the bus station, I passed the main plaza, and saw that the fountains were now lit. They changed colors and even did a little dance. I spent like 20 minutes watching them just reminiscing on the day.

The day was so liberating. It was so cool to go by myself, and I just felt so free! I definitely plan on returning during the summer because the beaches are so nice.
